“It’s great to be able to work with the some of the brightest students in China. Helping them research and develop their ideas is incredibly intellectually engaging. It’s not only a matter of imparting your knowledge about English grammar or essay structure, but learning with them the best ways to articulate the fascinating ideas and experiences they want to encapsulate in their essays. This year alone, ESC students have introduced me to Latin dance, theoretical physics, and Chinese poetry, among other topics. It’s extremely rewarding to see a brainstorming conversation in August develop into a completed essay by November – definitely one of my favorite parts about the job!”
