Anne Brubaker grew up in central Ohio and now lives in Natick, Massachusetts. She earned her PhD in English, specializing in modern American literature and science and technology studies. For more than 20 years, Anne has taught writing at Wellesley College and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working closely with students on academic, personal, and professional writing. She has served as the Coordinator of Wellesley’s Peer Writing Program and the Fulbright Review Committee, supporting students applying for international fellowships.

Anne’s teaching and research explore how storytelling, data, and ideas connect across fields—from literature and history to science and technology. She especially enjoys helping students discover their voice, organize complex ideas, and gain confidence in their writing. She believes writing is not a solitary activity: it grows stronger through conversation, curiosity, and thoughtful guidance.

Outside of work, Anne enjoys reading, running, cooking, and traveling with her family. She also writes regularly, including a recent piece on slang published in Business Insider.
